Questions About bbq Grills

Richard asks…

Can you BBQ in the parking lot of great adventure Jackson NJ?

I just got season tickets from great adventure Jackson NJ for the family, and i was wondering if you could BBQ by the parking lot as im trying to cut cost by buying a portable grill. also i know that they have a picnic area, is it inside or outside the park.

newportablegrills.com answers:

No – I was there yesterday and saw security at a car that was grilling. They made them put it away. So I would assume that it is not allowed. But you can call them to check.

Lizzie asks…

Are there any tricks to cooking on a small portable grill?

last time i cooked steaks on it they were tough

newportablegrills.com answers:

You want the grill extremely hot for steaks. Dont overcook the steaks. Also it depends on the cut and quality of the beef/marbling. Obviously a filet is going to be more tender than a flank steak… Also let the steaks rest for a couple minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute. If are are cooking tough cuts of steak they will benefit from spending some time in a marinade with fruits that have enzymes capable of tenderizing (papaya,Pineapple, mango(I think) would be some examples).

Ruth asks…

Help-propane bottle with poratable grill?

I just purchased a portable grill (O-Grill) and I've never dealt with the Coleman bottle propane in any way. Can you please tell me how to connect it ? I am supposed to disconnect it after use – can I store it for use it again? A simple how to connect and disconnect and where to store it would be appreciated. The grill manual says it would be ready to accept the propane "bottle" Thank you,

newportablegrills.com answers:

The propane bottle simple screws onto the threaded adapter of the grill. The bottle should be removed for transportation and long term storage. The bottle has a self sealing top so that it can be reused when removed from the grill.

Questions About Bbq Grills

Paul asks…

Dark grey soot underneith George Forman electric BBQ grills?

I have a George Foreman electric BBQ, and for the very first time since I got the BBQ last year I noticed dark grey soot underneith both grills! It was hard to clean, but I managed to clean it up. But my question is, is this normal? Should I report this to the company? Because I actually cook on those grills and I'm afraid to get food poisoning due to some left over particles contamination from underneith the grills onto the top of the grills where the food goes to cook.

newportablegrills.com answers:

You should report this to the company.

John asks…

Electric BBQ Grills: Do they work well?

We were looking at gas bbq grills and found an electric one at Lowe's. Do these work just as good as gas grills and are they easy to maintain? Does the food taste good when cooked on them?

newportablegrills.com answers:

They do what they are supposed to but I don't think the flavor is as good. If you just want to cook the meat, that's fine. If you want more flavor go with gas, even more flavor you'll want charcoal.

Betty asks…

Have they sent BBQ grills and fireworks to the military persons who are overseas?

newportablegrills.com answers:

No one wnats the firework to go off in the mail AS IF, it is a bomb or IEd sent thru the mail, so don;t do it!!!! MWR has grills for rent in Iraq and Afghanistan and the meat can be bought for the units during the holidays since there is no more fast food and I have heard of family members trying to ship alcohol as well, and one soldier got a DUI because of it in a dry country.

Donna asks…

Why can't bbq grills use either propane (LP) or natural gas (NG) without a conversion kit?

I bought a weber grill that is set up for natural gas and I need it to work using propane. I wanted to just take off the natural gas hose and attach a propane hose and regulator, but weber said I couldn't do that.

newportablegrills.com answers:

Because Propane has a higher BTU (british thermal unit) content. So the orifice that "meters" the propane to the burners needs to be smaller than the natural gas. Also, we need more pressure to push the propane throught the smaller orfice, so a different pressure regulater is needed. If you put propane to a natural gas appliance or bbq, you would have one heck of a huge fire, and it would be extremely dangerouse. As for the answer two down from mine, that is incorrect. Natrual gas is lighter than air, propane is heavier. Natural gas will "float" all over, where as propane will sink to the lowest area it can get to.

Where does the ground wire go on a gas grill?

We just bought a gas grill from Home Depot: http://reviews.homedepot.com/1999/100497225/reviews.htm I got it all put together, then I was ready to put the knobs on, well,in the bag of knobs was a ground wire. I have no idea where it's supossed to go. I backtracked the manual and set up instructions with no luck. It does have an electronic ignition switch, but I can't see anywhere that it could go. Does anyone know where it goes, or if it is necessary to put on? The ignition switch only takes a AAA battery. FishLakeGuy, I did see that as well, and I went back to the instructions and still couldn't find anything. I'm just thinking we probably don't need it.

newportablegrills.com answers:

Maybe from the negative side of the battery to the chassis. Stop back at the store and take a look at one that is assembled.

Questions About Charcoal Grill Parts

Lizzie asks…

Weber Charcoal Grill Question.. help!!!?

OK… so I have the Weber *Performer*.. and I've had it for quite some time. I need a new bowl for it. Is it possible to buy that? Where could I get it? How much? The *bowl* is the bottom part of the grill itself, it holds the charcoal. Thanks in advance!! :)

newportablegrills.com answers:

Home Depot carries a lot of replacement parts for Weber grills. You need to know yoru exact model name AND number to get the right part. If HD doesn't have it, you'll have to order it from Weber online.

David asks…

I just bought my first new grill(charcoal) and I am trying to put it together, but….?

but the main parts(ie the smoker and the other thing….I am new to grilling and I am not sure what its called) are covered with this sticky stuff, I tried just wiping it down with warm water because the parts are not put together yet, but it is not working. Since I am new to this I am not sure what I can and cannot use to clean a grill so I was wondering if anyone can give me some help on this. :-) Thanks!

newportablegrills.com answers:

I found some degreaser dish soap once. I used hot water and the soap to clean the grill and then rinsed in water. It worked well.

Chris asks…

Charcoal Grill? Should I be careful?

I know carbon monoxide is released from charcoal, but will it be harmful? How many PPM (parts per million, right) is released? If i'm cooking outside then it probably won't be a problem, but what if I'm standing next to it the whole time

newportablegrills.com answers:

People have been using charcoal grills for a LONG time and I've never heard of it being a problem. If you're concerned, then take a step away from it while you're not doing something. But it's not going to be a problem either way.

Your Questions About Electric Outdoor grills

George asks…

What do I need to do to get rid of my gas stove/oven and replace it with an electric stove in a mobile home?

My gas company is trying to stick me with a bill for $125.00 for 32 days of service and all that I use gas for is my stove/oven……and Betty Crocker I am not!!! Refusing to pay the absurd, ridiculous, not to mention impossible amount of my bill, have chosen to cook on my outdoor grill and microwave untill I can afford an electric appliance and insure that I know what I need to do to install it. Thanks!

newportablegrills.com answers:

You should look at your bill to see if its estimated, if it is call the gas company and demand that they re read your meter. Personally i think you are making a huge mistake by going from electric to gas for your stove. I have had both and will take gas over electric any day of the week. Gas heats up quicker, more evenly and is cheaper and more reliable

Ken asks…

I need to cook a recipe @ about 900 degrees. Ideas how to get that temp @ home w/ an electric stove top & w?

I have a favorite Chinese Recipe I want to try and the provider said one of the secrets of chinese cooking is using a Wok that will cook at around 900 degrees to sear the food quickly. I have an electric stove top at home…any ideas how to get that temperature using a wok? Is there a 'Wok Grill' set that would allow me to reach that temperature or something like convection, etc? Also does anyone know how hot a typical gas outdoor grill gets? Maybe I could use that?

newportablegrills.com answers:

You will not get that type of temperature from a home stove. The best you can do is to heat your wok, add oil and fry in small batches. Even your grill outside will not reach a 900 degree temperature. Chinese restaurants have special burners that allow the higher temperatures the are able to get. Just do your stir fry in small batches. Use peanut oil it is able to handle the higher temperature better than other oils.

Mandy asks…

Does anyone like indoor grills?

I live in a city condo building. There are no outdoor grills, nor anyplace to put them. I was wondering what is your experience grilling ribs or steaks or fish or chicken, on an indoor grill. Like this one http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/p-668152-0%2091%20399-Griddles-Grills_Sanyo-Mini-Smokeless-Indoor-Electric-Grill.aspx?ccaid=FNFNDDHE2&hid=91 I saw my stepdad use this to grill some big country ribs right in the kitchen. I never saw the end result, as the grill was cooking very slowly and I ended up leaving. The odors DO concern me. The more I use it, the more my place will smell like charred meat. hmmm Home&Garden, wtf. I put this under cooking….I dont remember y/a being so moderated.

newportablegrills.com answers:

I owned one once. They are okay but does not replace the bbq. Also if you condo is small and the vent is not strong there will be lingering food odors.

Grill-less on the 4th,help!?

Tomorrow is the 4th of July and I am without a grill. It was a sudden occurence. How can I make a portable grill out of scratch that can cook for 2 people?

newportablegrills.com answers:

Do you have an oven? Four bricks? A space in your backyard? You have a grill! Take one of the racks out of the oven, build your charcoal fire in a space the size of the grill. Put a brick at each corner. Best to do this before you light the fire. Light it off and when the coals are ready put the oven rack on the bricks and there you go. Happy grilling. Dont forget your fire extinguisher. Cant bend to the ground? Got a wheelbarrow? Fill it half full of dirt and follow the above instructions. Doing this on your apartment deck? DONT!!! Go buy a cheapo gas grill for $20. And remember.FIRE EXTINGUISHER WITHIN REACH AT ALL TIMES

Betty asks…

I bought a cemetery plot and would like to use it the summer for miscellaneous activities. Is this acceptable?

I’m in my early 30’s and recently purchased a cemetery plot. Rather that let it sit there and receive any use from it until I’m dead, I’ll like to partake in some summer activities this coming year. The grounds are kept so nice and the grass is so green, I’d like to sunbathe on it. I’d also like to get outdoors and use it for some stretching, yoga and even cookout on my portable grill. I’ve told a few of my friends about these plans and they state the cemetery may not let me “hang out” there. I disagree – I bought the land and have the paper work to show anyone who may oppose my recreation. So, I guess my question – Is this acceptable? Don’t I have the right to do as I please, as the plot is mine?

newportablegrills.com answers:

The plot of land may be yours but you should respect the people who own the cemetery as well as the families of others that are buried there. I personally think it would be wrong for you to do what you mention. There are other facilities you can use for these purposes, they are called public parks.

Lizzie asks…

What should i get my dad as a 'thank you for all that you do, i really appreciate it' gift?

I want to buy him something. I already am making him something so dont say that. He likes classic cars, music, and cooking. I was thinking of a portable grill for cooking. Ive already got him those small cars that resemble his favorite ones. dont remember what theyre called..they sit on shelfs for decoration. So ya dont say that. And i cant burn cds atm, laptop broke. Any other suggestions please!!

newportablegrills.com answers:

Well, what do you have to spend? A nice saturday rental of an exotic car or muscle car would be awsome! There are a few cool places around here that rent odd ball cars for the day. Then the 2 of you can spend the day tooling around town in a hot car.

Questions About Gas Grill Regulator

Lisa asks…

do i need a regulator for my gas grill when hooked to home propane system?

newportablegrills.com answers:

There must always be a regulator somewhere in the system. If you examine the existing home installation you will probably find a regulator at the tank and one at the wall just before the piping enters the building. The one at the tank (1st stage) is taking tank pressure which is anywhere from 0 to 200psi on a really hot day and dropping it down to a consistent pressure of usually 10psi. The second regulator (2nd stage) takes the 10psi and drops it down to 11" wc which is the operating pressure of propane appliances. If the connection for your grill is AFTER this 2nd stage regulator, you do not require a regulator at the grill. If it is BETWEEN these two regulators you need one at the grill. You must never deliver more than 11"wc to an appliance or damage can occur. By the way…When you go to the tank to look for the first stage regulator, knock on the dome cover with a wrench or something to see if anyone is at home! Wasps love making nests under those covers!

Daniel asks…

Noisy Regulator on my Char-Broil Gas Grill – HELP!?

I bought a new Char-Broil gas grill this year, and ever since I bought it I've had this problem with a very noisy regulator. At first, I learned to ignore it, but now it's just getting annoying. I bought a new regulator and replaced it… but that didn't work. It only happens when you turn all the burners on high. I went through 4 propane tanks, thinking it could be the tank – but that didn't solve the problem. I cleaned out all the holes on the burners where the gas comes out of, and that didn't help. I'm clean out of options. I don't want to return the grill, because it's gotta be something so easy to fix, I just can't find out what it is. Help! Before you answer this question, please view the YouTube video I made of this problem, so you can see for yourself how loud this SOB is. I hope someone can help! Thanks so much!! Here's the link to the YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3WUddbtt4o

newportablegrills.com answers:

Take it back to where you purchased it. It's nothing but a lemon. I had one 4 years ago by "Weber" that did the same thing and I did the same thing and ended up at a barbecue that turned into a freakin' fire. So don't waste anymore time with it, the propane will eventually unite and the gas with eventually fumagate up into the boiler area and before you know it, you're going to have flames!! … Been there done that and it's not worth it!!! … My neices were present at the time and they were almost burned because of this malfunctioning device. I took mine back after 2 months of use and got my money back. I now have a nice portable one by Wagner and it's working beautifully. Don't play around with this … Get rid of the thing before someone gets hurt!! Much Love Peace & Happiness

Helen asks…

When I turn on my grill it appears that the gas is coming out the regulator vent. Can this be fixed/replaced?

The grill is about two years old and has been working well until just recently. Gas is clearly coming out the vent in the regulator, which obviously prevents me from lighting the grill. Can I just replace the vent or is there an easy-but-not-obvious-to-me solution?

newportablegrills.com answers:

Do you mean the vent on the regulator? If so, it's shot. Get a new regulator, they are sold at hardware stores and home improvment stores. They don't cost much.

Daniel asks…

I got Applewood chips and charcoal to grill w/ this recipe how can I use wood chips to smoke/grill the meat?

Grilled Chicken with Basil Dressing Ingredients 2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil 3 tablespoons plus 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons fennel seeds, coarsely crushed 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 cup lightly packed fresh basil leaves 1 large clove garlic 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest Directions Whisk 1/3 cup of oil, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, fennel seeds, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a heavy-duty re-sealable plastic bag. Add the chicken and seal the bag. Massage the marinade into the chicken. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes and up to 1 day, turning the chicken occasionally. Meanwhile, blend the basil, garlic, lemon zest, remaining 1/4 cup lemon juice, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a blender until smooth. Gradually blend in the remaining 1/3 cup oil. Season the basil sauce, to taste, with more salt and pepper, if desired. Prepare the barbecue for medium-high heat or preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the chicken until just cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer the chicken to plates. Drizzle the basil sauce over and serve. Grilled Flank Steak with Balsamic Glaze Ingredients Cooking spray 2 tablespoons triple peppercorns (recommended: peppercorn melange) 1 flank steak, about 1 1/4 pounds Salt 2 teaspoons garlic flakes 4 slices bacon, diced 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar 1/2 cup reduced-sodium beef broth 2 teaspoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves Directions Heat a stove-top grill pan or griddle with cooking spray over medium-high heat to preheat. Place peppercorns in a plastic bag and smash with the flat side of a meat mallet, or bottom of a heavy skillet, until finely crushed. Season both sides of flank steak with crushed peppercorns, salt and garlic flakes. Place steak on hot pan and cook 5 minutes per side for medium doneness. Remove from heat and let steak rest 10 minutes. Slice meat crosswise into 1/4-inch thick slices. While the steak is cooking, Place diced bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crisp. Add vinegar and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes, or until liquid reduces. In a small bowl, add broth and cornstarch, whisking until cornstarch is completely dissolved, and add to skillet. Simmer 2 minutes bringing to a full boil, until sauce thickens. Remove from heat, spoon sauce over steak slices and top with parsley Do I need to soak the wood? Any advice is appreciated

newportablegrills.com answers:

Soak the wood chips in warm water for at least 1 hour (2 – 3 is better). Then drain and place chips in smoker or old metal pie plate over coals/lava rocks and under meat. Check occasionally to see that chips are smoking, not burning. Add small amounts of water as necessary. Yummy sounding recipes, good eating.

Chris asks…

When grilling barbeque chicken on a charcoal grill what are somet things i need to know?

I just bought a charcoal grill and i want to start experimenting with different kinds of meats. When grilling barbeque chicken what are some things i need to know like preparing the grill, grill times, tools or utensils, and additional things i might need to know about. Any barbeque sauce recipes would be helpful too! So if i put the charcoal on one side i want to put the chicken on the other side? Also the 2-3 zone setup should i build a bigger pile of briquettes and then a smaller pile then an empty space for those flareups? I have a small to medium size grill.

newportablegrills.com answers:

I bought a Webber gas grill a couple of years ago, along with the grill was a cook book, which contained the following recipe for grilled chicken: Ricotta Chicken 1 whole chicken 4 to 5 pounds 12 oz. Ricotta cheese 1 egg 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 1/4 tsp dried basil, or oregano 3/4 tsp dried tarragon 2 Tbs minced parsley 1 large clove garlic, mixed with olive oil 1/4 tsp paprika Rinse and pat dry w paper towels Remove the whole backbone and tail. Place chicken skin side up and press down with palms to "pop' bones so chicken will lie flat. Using a sharp knife and fingers loosen skin over top of breast and drumsticks. Mix ricotta, & parmasean cheese, egg, 1 tsp of the basil or oregano, 1/4 tsp tarragon. Spoon the mixture under the skin. Brush lightly with the garlic oil basil or oregano, and remaining terragon and papreka. Place chicken, skin side up on grill. Grill over INDIRECT HEAT, not directly over heat source with lid closed. Cook for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until skin is well browned.

George asks…

How to grill chicken successfully?

I have a basic charcoal grill nothing fancy, but have always had trouble grilling chicken. How do I do it successfully? I don't need a recipe for a marinade or anything like that. I just want to know how to grill legs and thighs on the grill without it taking me three hours because I'm so scared of serving raw chicken, which is also a problem I have. Sometimes certain parts of the leg are cooked but the wider top part is sometimes raw. And how do I keep it from sticking to the foil. Should I use foil? I always use foil because I don't know if it's good to have the chicken right over the coals. Thanks.

newportablegrills.com answers:

I always used to have your problem. The key is to marinate it and grill it on a lower heat for about an hour. Buy one of those digital thermometer and the internal temp should be 170 for chicken. If you have good quality chicken, they'll turn out really tender and juicy. Remember: lower heat and longer duration, in general….so put the chicken on first you are grilling other things like steak or hamburgers.

Your Questions About Electric Grill Outdoor

Mary asks…

Can Filet Mignon be made in the oven?

Ok, I'm on a diet and am in the mood for beef, but it has to be lean. I have an electric stove and no outdoor grill, so I was planning on wrapping it in foil and sticking it in the oven. I have already seasoned the meat the way I like it. How long should I leave it in the oven if I am gonna cook it that way? The meat is about 2 inches thick. Does the fact that the stove and oven are electric make any difference at all?

newportablegrills.com answers:

It would be better if you could broil it in the oven. Such a fine, tender cut of beef is best prepared with a dry cooking method, like broiling grilling or pan searing. By wrapping it in foil you will essentially be steaming the meat. If you have a broiler, set it on high and cook the meat about 4 minutes on each side for a 2 inch thick filet. If you have a meat thermometer, use it to reach the desired temp. To pan sear it, put in a hot skillet on the stove that has 1 tablespoon oil and one tablespoon butter melted in it. (Or spray it with pan, if the fat isn't one your diet. Cook it about 4 minutes per side and then turn down the heat and cover VERY LOOSELY with foil until it reaches the desired level of doneness for you. But if you still want to cook it in foil in the oven, you should start with about 15 minutes and then check on it. You don't say how much or how thick the steak is so that is as close as I can get.

James asks…

Any tips on how to have that delicious smoky flavour when using an electric griller?

My mom bought this electric griller with Teflon surface so the meat doesn't stick and burn. We have been using this griller since then because our outdoor griller is pretty old and broken. Plus, the electric griller is easier to use and doesn't get your hands dirty unlike with the one using coals. But the thing I've noticed is, the meat, although looking all delicious and not charred, it always lack this tasty smoky flavour you get when you grill meat using coal. Have you guys experience this as well, or is it just me? Why is that? Do you guys have any helpful ideas or tips that perhaps can give this smoky flavour back into the meat? I don't really want to go back to grilling using coals if I could help it since it's too much work. Thanks!

newportablegrills.com answers:

Buy some Liquid Smoke. It's an awesome product that adds a wonderful smoky flavor into foods. You can brush it onto foods or add it to recipes. I've even added it to barbecue sauces if they aren't smoky enough for me. The brand I usually use is Wright's, and the link is below.

Charles asks…

If I have an outdoor electric plug which has a 20amp breaker, but I need 60amp.Can I just change the breaker ?

It was used at once to plug in lights when grilling outside at night, but now I have a traveltrailer which I would like to hook up constant power when parked in the yard so my wife and I can get away (children) for quiet time. At the elec.box the breaker is a 20amp but the trailer has to be a 60amp or it will keep tripping the present breaker. Can I simple just change the breaker at the box and do I have to change the wire thats there now to some other size? The wire there now is the 12/3 (yellow color wire) THANKYOU FOR ANY HELP FROM ANY ELECTRAINS OUT THERE.

newportablegrills.com answers:

You need to change the wire and the receptacle outlet. If you just change the breaker, the house may burn down. A 60 amp circuit will need a 60 amp receptacle outlet and number 6 copper wire. And usually the 60 amp circuit will be a 2 pole 240/120 volt 4 wire circuit. I highly recommend you hire a qualified electrician to install this for you.

Robert asks…

Cooking salmon- best methods?

I want to find a reliable way to cook salmon the way my boyfriend and I like it- just barely done, very soft and moist. I think it's nasty when it gets firm and light colored, but I don't want it totally raw either. So what's the best method? Oven? Broiler? Stove top? Grill? Covered or uncovered? Wrapped in foil? I've tried lots of ways, and sometimes it turns out really good, and sometimes, not so much. If I could find a way that always turned out great, it would be awesome. If you suggest an oven or stove, temperatures/settings would be helpful. Here are the cooking methods I have available: -Gas oven -Gas broiler -Gas stovetop -Gas outdoor grill -Electric indoor grill (Foreman) -Electric toaster oven The only thing we like to put on the salmon is a little butter and some Old Bay, so sauces are not preferred. Rab- would something like parchment cooking paper work? Is that what you're talking about?

newportablegrills.com answers:

For reliability, I prefer poaching in a pan on stove top. Start with a little melted butter or oil spray. Bring heat up to medium to start, but lower to finish. Put filets or steaks of salmon in pan to sear both sides. Then reduce heat, add a little water, wine, or broth. Place a pot lid over to retain steam to cook through Time will depend on thickness, so check regularly. Remove from heat when done sufficiently.

I am going to buy my dad a gas grill soon and I want to use it too. I want to woo my guests with great food. Any suggestions???

I love almost any food cooked on the grill, but especially a good prime ribeye marinated over night in some red wine, worchestershire sauce, soy sauce, a part of a can of cola and some spices of your choosing ( I like garlic and greek seasoning) and corn roasted with bacon. You don't take the husk completely off but removed the silk, wrap bacon strips around the corn and tie the husk back on. Roast for about 15 minutes or so until the husk just starts to burn a little! It does not take on the grease just the flavor and it does not need butter or salt. OOOOhhhhhhh so good. Good luck!

I'm thinking about cooking a pork loin on the bbq grill. Any good recipes or suggestions?

I haven't actually BOUGHT the meat yet – figured I'd do that on the way home. I have a fairly small gas grill, and I won't have half a day for cooking. I'm hoping for an hour or less.

Lots of luck cooking it in an hour. Go to foodnetwork.com.they have great recipes. You may have to pre cook it the night before or something as it is going to take a while to cook it

Ken asks…

how do you make jerky in a gas grill?

I am trying to find a recipe to make beef (or whatever kind of meat) in our gas bbq grill outside. I need to make jerky for a kids class on pioneers so the recipe needs to be the kinds of spices they would have had on a covered wagon. Recipes or websites would be great. Thanks

newportablegrills.com answers:

Jerky used by the pioneers was simply meat "pulled" from the muscle rather than cut, then soaked in brine (saturated salt water) and sun dried by hanging the strips over a clothes line or wire. Bert

Recipes for Grilled Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops?

I've never made bacon wrapped scallops before and never on a gas grill. Any recipes or tips on grilling this would be appreciated! I am making this for dinner tonight with lemon garlic asparagus and rice =) Thanks!

newportablegrills.com answers:

You dont' really need a recipe, other than to be sure scallops are opaque all the way thru. And watch out for the bacon fat dripping into your coals/burner and causing a fire. May want to offset them from the direct heat until bacon is nearly done, then toss them over direct heat to finish. Asparagus and rice sounds good to me, too! Pig out!
